Our company is looking for a Cook to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment;
- seasoning food during cooking;
- examining foodstuffs to ensure quality;
- Measure and mix correct volume of ingredients according to recipes;
- Check and ensure the proper storage of raw and processed food items including the condition of food in cool rooms and freezers;
- Attend regular team meetings for general communication, product updates, professional development and quality control;
- Using containers and trays in temperature-controlled facilities to manage storage of food;
- Monitor and maintain stock levels to reduce wastage;
- May train other kitchen staff and apprentices – WHS;
- portioning food, plating up and garnishes;
- Cater for functions as required;
- Ensuring the catering service is safe and of high quality that meets resident needs;
- Train apprentices and other kitchen staff;
- Work with specialized cooking equipment, such as the Dosa plate (Griddle), deep fryer etc;
- Ensure correct storage and preservation of food where required.
Requirements:
- be flexible about working hours as per the requirement of the business;
- have good working knowledge of WHS standards;
- a minimum of two years’ experience;
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, Management, residents and family members;
- Proven experience as a Cook with a minimum of 4 years experience;
- Cert III in Commercial Cookery;
- AQF relevant diploma and at least 2 years relevant work experience; or;
- Minimum 2 years in a similar role;
- Valid National Police clearance;
- Relevant trade qualifications;
- A team player but also efficient when working independently;
- familiar with Australian Cuisine;
- Previous Aged Care, Health Care or hotel experience is desirable;
- Pride in the quality of the food and meals that is produced in the kitchen;
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
