Quality Engineer – Steel Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Quality Engineer – Steel to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Chair and minute weekly Quality meetings directly with Fabrication Contractor;
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, technical bulletins and drawing notes;
- Undertake weld inspections through visual and other project specific inspection methods to ensure compliance with relevant standards;
- Ensure Fabrication Contractor complies with its own (Project Approved) procedures, checklists and methodologies;
- Routine written reporting to functional and operational reporting lines addressing all QA/QC aspects and issues;
- Ensure resolution to technical queries are reflected onto applicable fabrication drawings and communicated to all revenant stakeholders;
- Advise, coordinate and mediate on all quality issues with project stakeholders present at Fabrication facilities.
Requirements:
- Ability to familiarise and police compliance with VicRoads Specifications 630 and 631 and Technical Bulletins TB46 and 48;
- Possess leadership, delegative and people management skills (in foreign cultural environments);
- Possess a clear apprehension of Australian Welding and Surface Treatment standards;
- Adaptive and accurate technical and status report wiring skills;
- Ability to read and comprehend design, fabrication and weld (maps) related drawings;
- Knowledgeable of NATA and ILAC testing requirements;
- A Bachelor of Engineering preferred;
- Maintaining awareness of scope of work limits and delineation;
- Ability to navigate and interpret client and other project specifications, standards, codes and technical bulletins;
- Adequate prowess in using suite of Microsoft Office software packages;
- Knowledge of applicable welding standards such as AS1554, 4100, 5100, 5131.
