The role, at a glance:

The Applications Engineering Manager - APAC will be responsible for managing all Biamp pre- and post-sale support activities in the Asia-Pacific region. This position will be the direct supervisor for all support staff in the region. Currently that includes a team in our Brisbane, Australia office as well as staff in Hong Kong and Singapore. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical, people, process, and organizational skills. The Applications Engineering Manager will interact with a variety of customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful technical support, design support, and training activities throughout the region. This position will report to Senior Director of Customer Experience based in Portland, Oregon.

How you'll contribute:

Maintain a high level of support for Biamp customers, consultants, and sales managers – including telephone and email technical support, onsite visits, technical training classes, and product demonstrations.

Monitor activity throughout the region, schedule necessary resources, and plan future growth and strategic direction of the department.
Mentor and develop team members.
Assess, modify, and develop department workflows and processes.
Track activity and metrics.
Work and collaborate with various departments and senior management on operational and strategic initiatives.

Schedule and oversee department resources, planning and budgeting.
Assess and manage team, provide coaching and performance management, conduct reviews.
Become familiar with industry and technology trends.
Provide leadership and vision that inspires the team and contributes to Biamp’s success.
Hiring and onboarding employees as necessary.

You'll also support with:

Researching tools and technology used within department.
Participating in annual budget process.
Attending trade shows.

Participating in cross-functional projects as needed.

A successful candidate should have:

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
6+ years of experience in the commercial AV industry with at least 3 years in a supervisory/management role.
Technical expertise in audio DSP, networking, and other AV technologies.
Certified Technical Specialist (CTS) certification, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or other relevant industry trainings and certification highly desired.
Ability to discuss complex technical issues and system designs with a variety of people possessing different levels of experience.

Previous experience managing a large team of direct and indirect reports.
Ability to coach, mentor and performance manage team.
Ability to plan, strategize and see big picture while focusing on individual issues as necessary.
Ability to define, capture, track, and analyze relevant department performance metrics and KPIs.
Ability to monitor and analyze relevant industry data and trends.

Strong presentation, organization, problem solving and communication skills.
Thorough understanding of case tracking systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint).
Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively

with people of diverse backgrounds and diffuse challenging situations using acceptable and

appropriate methods.

Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong

attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Work environment:

This is an onsite position based in Stafford, Brisbane, Australia.
Some global travel required (approximately 20%).
Routine use of standard office equipment.
Stand or sit for long periods.
