Product Owner Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Product Owner to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- communicating the overall data governance and data quality approach and strategy to all levels of stakeholders in the organisation;
- Elicit requirements from stakeholders, listen carefully, influence others;
- Product backlog – ensure it is visible, transparent and clear, so that the SCRUM team knows the schedule;
- New functions – set expectations for delivery;
- Work with Managers to assist on product roadmaps, product vision;
- Grooming – run regular and effective backlog/ grooming sessions;
- establishing and monitor strategic execution for defining and governing data;
- Partner with the Product Manager and the Development Team to explore and refine product roadmap items and see them through delivery;
- Defining the product and service vision and requirements based on customer needs and business objectives;
- Define product release plans and communicate delivery progress/milestones to all impacted stakeholders;
- Team workload – ensure that the team has enough upcoming prepared tasks;
- Lead and manage agile ceremonies such as refinement, planning, reviews, and retrospectives;
- Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on;
- Translate needs into user stories with detailed feature specifications and well defined acceptance criteria;
- facilitating the development and implementation of data quality standards and adoption requirements.
Requirements:
- Ideally a technical background but certainly a working knowledge of software development and web technologies;
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to hear a need, drill to find the real problem, and propose a solution;
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, you will be someone people trust and love working with;
- Ideally, you will have previous working experience as a Product Owner or hands-on experience managing all stages of the product lifecycle;
- Love traveling, often internationally, and spending time directly with customers;
- A working knowledge of Agile development process and principles;
- An early starter, someone who doesn’t mind getting up early from time to time to work with the East Coast of the USA;
- knowledge of Data Governance tools such as Collibra, Business Glossary, Informatica and Data frameworks such as DmBOK or equivalent;
- experience in developing people, skills in coaching and mentoring;
- demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication and cultural change;
- Work closely with the Digital and Delivery team, to ensure that the team understand the product backlog and can effectively plan for sprints;
- ability to manage and influence senior relationships across a wide business and operational stakeholder group;
- Deepen the teams knowledge of customer needs, motivations, and behaviour to influence designs that contribute to a rewarding customer experience;
- knowledge of regulatory and risk data architecture and technology solutions;
- highly developed skills in prioritisation and alignment of deliverables with strategic outcomes.
