Assist lawyers by investigating facts, preparing legal documents, or researching legal precedent. Conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action.

Our company is looking for a Paralegal to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Expenditure reporting;
  • Ad Hoc Administration relating to files;
  • Preparing and amending documents and briefs for the legal team using Microsoft Office and Open Practice software; and;
  • Conducting searches;
  • Lodgement of legal documentation;
  • Preparing Contracts;
  • Technical reporting;
  • Acting as a client liaison, providing accurate and detailed information according to Solicitor’s directions;
  • Creating and completing matters on PEXA;
  • Booking in settlements;
  • Calculating settlement figures and preparing cheque directions/payments/PEXA Destinations;
  • Experience using PEXA and Leap (is preferred but not essential);
  • Review of confidentiality agreements, and other simple agreements. Training and guidance will be provided by the legal team;
  • Preparing for settlement, mostly via PEXA, but on occasion liaising with settlement agents;
  • Liaising with clients and providing regular, professional communication and updates.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Queensland and Victorian conveyancing matters will be viewed favourably;
  • Experience in managing conveyancing files in NSW, both for sales and purchases;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Exposure to working in chambers;
  • Demonstrated success in a similar role;
  • Knowledge of Smokeball practice-management software is preferred, but not essential;
  • Preparing and amending documents and briefs for the legal team using Microsoft Office and Open Practice software; and;
  • Proficient computer skills;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications;
  • Acting as a client liaison, providing accurate and detailed information according to Solicitor’s directions;
  • Sound time management skills;
  • Ability to effectively and calmly manage and meet conflicting priorities;
  • Advanced communication skills – dealing with clients, banks/lenders, and other law firms and conveyancers;
  • A self-starter with the ability and desire to manage the demanding needs of a busy team;
  • Keen interest in expanding skills in paralegal support and potentially legal training.
