Our company is looking for a Legal Counsel to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with commercial and project teams to analyse and advise on contract risks;
  • Support to General Counsel and General Manager of Commercial;
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and government authorities as required;
  • Advise and manage a variety of M&A and similar transactions;
  • Assist with special requests from the executive team;
  • Mapping compliance obligations against regulatory requirements;
  • Manage corporate legal requirements of entities in Australia;
  • Managing and providing instructions to external lawyers;
  • Engaging with external stakeholders and gaining their support and building rapport with said stakeholders locally and overseas;
  • Advising on procurement and project delivery;
  • Supporting a culture of obligations compliance and supporting risk management and education across the business; and;
  • Reviewing and drafting, agreements, contracts and other legal documents;
  • Supporting the AFAC business units and activities with generalist legal support;
  • Providing legal contracting advice to NAFC with the procurement of aerial services;
  • Participate in the training of colleagues and stakeholder groups.

Requirements:

  • 4 years of post-qualification experience;
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of matters from the complex matters to the routine standard matters;
  • Exceptional analytical, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills;
  • Experience in media, technology and/or intellectual property;
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure;
  • Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor or comparable law degree;
  • Admitted to practice law in Australia;
  • Understanding and familiarity with the provision of legal services in the not for profit sector;
  • 3+ years post qualification experience;
  • Strong background and experience providing general commercial legal advice;
  • Current practicing certificate as an Australian legal practitioner.
