Senior Systems Engineer Job Description Template

Our company is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support the corporate LAN, WAN and Voice infrastructure;
  • Management of IT assets and image deployment (hardware and software);
  • Continuous improvement of existing IT processes, systems and DR;
  • Installation and Management of Windows and Unix Servers;
  • Install and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure platforms (onsite and cloud);
  • Be the escalation point and senior technical resource for any systems related issues and projects;
  • Perform on-site and remote technical support and system administration of various server architecture, and networking architecture;
  • Anti-Virus;
  • Good understanding of Networking;
  • Microsoft suite experience e.g. Active Directory, Exchange, ADFS, IIs SCOM and SCCM;
  • Leading and developing systems architecture for projects;
  • Signing off on testing requirements;
  • Developing and overseeing reliability and verification plans and activities;
  • Implementation of deployment software;
  • Server Hardware.

Requirements:

  • Strong skills in MS Wintel products (MS Exchange, Office 365, Windows Server);
  • Proven success and experience in consulting to medium-large organisations;
  • Networking (Cisco, HP), switching, routing and firewalls;
  • On premises and cloud infrastructure experience (Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, Citrix, Redhat and AWS);
  • Patch, application deployment and backup management skills (WSUS, Manage Engine, Veeam);
  • VMWare, RedHat and Microsoft Certification are highly desirable;
  • Strong knowledge of the ITIL framework and work within it;
  • A robust sense of humour;
  • Champion knowledge transfer and quality documentation;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Exposure to Azure or Cloud;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills at all levels of business;
  • Working knowledge of Cloud and IP Telephony/Unified Communications platforms ( desirable );
  • Experience with supporting CI/CD pipelines (Octopus Deploy, TeamCity, GIT);
  • Must be a team player.
