Senior Auditor

The Senior Auditor identifies and analyzes improper accounting or documentation within the organization. Audits complex accounting and financial data of various departments within an organization to ensure accuracy and compliance with government guidelines and laws. Being a Senior Auditor works with outside auditors to help reconcile discrepancies or support the external auditing function. Researches identified issues thoroughly and makes recommendations to improve policies or procedures accordingly. In addition, Senior Auditor requires a bachelor’s degree of accounting. Typically reports to a manager or head of unit/department. Being a Senior Auditor contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Working as a Senior Auditor typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience.

Our company is looking for a Senior Auditor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate misstatements and conclude whether balances and disclosures are materially correct;
  • Identify, assess, and document issues and recommend solutions;
  • Discuss issues with client management and obtain agreement on solutions;
  • Establish excellent working relationships with client staff of all levels;
  • Conduct External Audit of public sector entities, financial statements alone or as part of a team;
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation is maintained of audit work conducted;
  • Plan and conduct audit testing, identifying the most efficient methods of obtaining assurance required.

Requirements:

  • Local experience preferred but will consider candidates from overseas on a Working Holiday Visa;
  • Sociable, good communication skills both written and verbal is required;
  • Must have at least 1-2 years recent external audit experience;
  • Big 4 experience (preferred but not required, will consider mid-tier organisations);
  • Sound knowledge of accounting and auditing standards required – preferably Australian standards.
