Our company is looking for a purchasing officer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing of new suppliers and products;
  • ensuring that suppliers meet the required standards for quality, cost, delivery and reliability;
  • Preparing spare parts orders;
  • Working harmoniously with the Inventory and Warehouse Controller;
  • Reviewing the high dollar value indents daily and shipment progress reports; and;
  • Place purchase orders via JDE;
  • working with internal clients to ensure their direct purchases and stock purchases are effectively processed and delivered;
  • Monitor the progress of deliveries;
  • Managing relationships with suppliers, and sourcing new ones as required;
  • Create purchasing orders according to engineering specifications;
  • Supplier evaluation and auditing;
  • Maintain database ensuring supplier and SKU data is accurate at all times;
  • To ensure payment terms are managed and optimised in favour of HISG resulting in improved cash flows;
  • Follow up outstanding purchasing order, check the status and leading date of the purchasing order;
  • Obtain and assess quotations on a range of raw materials from suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational skills;
  • Systematic, methodical and process driven;
  • Experience maintaining large warehouse stock/supply levels;
  • MS office knowledge;
  • Hands on experience working within a purchasing team in a similar role, ideally within the manufacturing industry;
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritise and plan your workload;
  • Experience with JD Edwards ERP system;
  • Familiarity interfacing with production and logistics team to ensure manufacturing objectives are met;
  • Experience purchasing raw and packaging materials.
