Cook / Cleaner

We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Camp Assistant / Cook to join the team for an exploration camp.

Hays are in partnership with a reputable mining company working within the Goldfields region on one of their exploration camps.


Your new role


This is a varied position and you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable camp environment during the day, and delivering nutritious and delicious meals in the evening. Your day will be split between the below duties and will require you to be comfortable driving to Kalgoorlie (approximately 145km away) for groceries once a week.

Morning Duties

• Clean and prepare the crib room, ensuring it is fully stocked and ready for daily use
• Maintain ablution facilities, including cleaning and replenishing consumables
• Assist with laundry and general camp housekeeping

Afternoon / Evening Duties

• Plan menus and prepare evening meals for the workforce
• Cater for dietary requirements with balanced and nutritious meal options
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness
• Conduct stocktake and manage weekly grocery shopping for fly-in/out days

What you'll need to succeed


You will need to be a self-sufficient team player who enjoys working independently in a remote setting and is comfortable taking initiative and managing time well.


Essential Requirements include:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality, or equivalent
• Food Handling and Hygiene Certification
• Experience cooking for larger groups, ideally in:
  • Remote camps
  • Mining or exploration environments
  • Large-scale catering operations
• Willingness to undertake cleaning and housekeeping duties
• Current manual driver's licence
