Environmental Scientist, Contaminated Sites
$75,000 - $80,000ALRA
- $75,000 – $80,000 + Super
- No billable hour targets – focus on learning, not utilisation.
- Secure pipeline of work locked in for the next two years.
As an Environmental Scientist in Contaminated Land, you’ll join a consultancy that’s growing for the right reasons. Their reputation has been built on delivering quality technical work, building long-term client relationships and developing great consultants – not squeezing every last billable hour out of their staff.
With a healthy workload already secured for the next two years and jumping immediately onto the resume building T2D project, you’ll have the opportunity to build genuine consulting experience across investigations, monitoring, remediation and major infrastructure projects without worrying about whether work is coming through the door.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with 1-2 years’ experience looking to accelerate their development in contaminated land consulting.
The Role
You’ll work alongside experienced Senior Environmental Scientists and Project Managers supporting contaminated land investigations across South Australia.
Your work will include:
- T2D Project – exposure to a major, long-term infrastructure project early in your career.
- Preliminary & Detailed Site Investigations (PSI & DSI)
- Soil, groundwater, vapour and environmental monitoring programs
- Field sampling and contractor supervision
- Data interpretation and technical reporting
- Waste classification and remediation validation projects
- Supporting major infrastructure and development projects across South Australia
- Working closely with experienced consultants who will actively mentor and enable your development
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend years collecting samples before progressing. You’ll gain exposure across both field and office work from the beginning and steadily develop your project management capability.
The Team
You’ll be joining an Adelaide office that’s continuing to grow as part of a well-established national consultancy.
Despite their national footprint, the Adelaide team maintains a genuinely collaborative culture where senior staff remain approachable and invested in developing junior consultants.
Clients consistently comment on the quality of the team’s work, resulting in repeat business and a strong forward workload. Internally, there are no billable hour targets, allowing consultants to focus on delivering good technical outcomes rather than chasing utilisation percentages.
If you’re looking for somewhere to build your contaminated land career properly, this is one of the stronger environments in Adelaide.
Experience
You’ll ideally have:
- Around 1-2 years’ experience within environmental consulting or contaminated land
- Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or similar degree
- Exposure to contaminated land investigations, field sampling or environmental monitoring
- Strong written communication skills
- Australian driver’s licence
- Australian working rights
