Project Geologist

Acrux Search is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Geologist to support an RC and DD drilling program, with duties that include logging of RC chips and DD core, as well as general rig management (ensuring that the rig is correctly set up at each location, liasing with the driller with regards to production and safety). Following the completion of the drilling program, you will support regional exploration where possible with field mapping, rock chip sampling, and working with soil sampling teams.

This is a remote Greenfields exploration project in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. Camp accommodation comprises dongas but tented camping may be required for short periods.

Where:

• 15/6 Roster, and the program is expected to last between 4 and 6 months. Darwin based (FIFO from any major Australian center)
  

 

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Review and maintain the progress of exploration activities, including contributing to managing the risk and reward equation of the exploration program .
  
• Supervision of drilling contractors .
  
• Schedule, supervise, and assist with logging the allocated amount of DD, RC or Diamond core and undertaking field sampling, reconnaissance, or geophysical programs .
  
• Ensure geological support activities, such a sampling and logistical functions are carried out to the required standard .
  
• Manage laboratory assay results .
  
• Mentoring/training of junior staff and field assistants to company standards.
  
• Acquire and interpret exploration data and provide input into exploration program design.
  
• Actively contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the exploration team, and its relationship with all other external stakeholders.
  

Requirements

Essential:

• Tertiary qualification in Geoscience.
  
• Previous experience in the exploratory mining
  
• Rights to live and work in WA.
  
• Ability to work a regular FIFO roster (from any major city in Australia)
  

Desirable:

• Honours in Geology or higher qualifications .
  
• 2- 5 years exploration geology experience.
  
• Darwin based (prefferd)
• Experience with geographical information system such as QGIS.
  
• Experience with geological modelling software; favourable but not essential (Datamine/Leapfrog).
