- Lead technically challenging wastewater projects
- Provide technical expertise from concept to commissioning

- Involved in tactical planning across the region’s wastewater treatment plants.
- Mentor and develop graduate and intermediate engineers.
- Provide technical support for the capital program and investment planning.
- A relevant tertiary qualification such as a Bachelor of Engineering (preferably Chemical/Process, Environmental, Mechanical or Civil Engineering). CPeng highly desired.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience of wastewater or drinking water treatment projects.
- Strong technical knowledge in wastewater treatment.
- Sharp investigative skills with a solutions focus.
- Excellent relationship management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The opportunity
This role will provide you an opportunity to make a difference through optimising 3 Waters distribution across the Wellington Region. You will take the lead on strategic planning and delivering network investigations that will ultimately lead to improved reliability of drinking water supply for the community and environmentally safe and efficient distribution of wastewater.

Remuneration
This is a full time position of 40 hours per week
The remuneration range for this role is $108,644 to $153,379 p.a. (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.

About Tiaki Wai
Tiaki Wai is the professional water services provider across Greater Wellington and South Wairarapa. Their job is to provide safe and healthy drinking water, collect and treat wastewater, and ensure the stormwater network is well managed. A multi-council owned entity, tasked to manage the infrastructure and deliver water services to our communities. From 1 July 2026, a new chapter in water services begins. Tiaki Wai will take over responsibility for providing Three Waters Services to approximately 433,000 residents across the Wellington metro regions.
Tiaki Wai will own the water assets it operates giving it greater independence to manage and improve water services for current and future communities, Wellington Water employees will transition into this new council-owned entity.
