Junior Power BI & Analytics Developer

We’re Obzervr, a Brisbane-based SaaS company that helps mining and heavy industry organisations transform the way they manage assets and maintenance. Our analytics team builds the dashboards and data pipelines our clients rely on every day. We’re growing, and we’re looking for someone ready to hit the ground running.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a genuine entry point into enterprise-scale data work. You won’t be building internal demos — you’ll be contributing to real analytics outputs that real clients use in the field. Working alongside senior data engineers and product specialists, you’ll build skills across the full analytics stack: Power BI,DAX, SQL, Azure, and Microsoft Fabric.

You’ll also get hands-on exposure to AI-powered BI features reshaping how analytics teams work — smart narratives, natural language Q&A, anomaly detection — and the tools to use them effectively and responsibly.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Building and maintaining Power BI dashboards, data models, and DAX calculations for a multi-tenant SaaS platform.
• Supporting ETL processes, data transformations, and data quality across the analytics stack.
• Collaborating with product and customer success teams to translate requirements into clear, effective visual solutions.
• Applying AI tools to accelerate report development, DAX authoring, documentation, and troubleshooting.
• Monitoring data flows and refresh schedules; helping diagnose and resolve pipeline issues promptly.
• Contributing to data governance and continuous improvements in reporting reliability.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• 1–2 years’ experience in Power BI development, data visualisation, or BI reporting.
• Working knowledge of DAX, SQL, and Power Query (M language).
• A data-first mindset — curious, detail-oriented, and genuinely keen to grow.
• Comfort using AI-assisted tools as part of your daily workflow, with an eye for validating outputs.
• A collaborative, growth-oriented approach to working in an agile team.

Bonus points for: a degree in Computer Science or Data Science; familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or Azure; any exposure to mining, resources, or heavy industry.
