Manager Statewide Prevention

The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. About the role:

The Manager, Statewide Prevention provides strategic leadership and accountability for the delivery and performance of Victoria's statewide chronic disease prevention programs. The role leads policy implementation, commissioning, and contract management to ensure effective, evidence‑based delivery and achievement of agreed outcomes. Working closely with funded agencies and key partners, the Manager provides system stewardship, performance oversight and continuous improvement to strengthen prevention outcomes and equity across the state and contributes to the reduction of health inequities.

The Statewide Prevention team delivers and oversees a portfolio of evidence‑based prevention programs, including Quit (smoking and vaping cessation), healthy eating programs, Aboriginal health initiatives, the Medicinal Cannabis Compassionate Access Scheme, the Life! program and VicHealth. Through contract management, monitoring and reporting, and strong partner engagement, the team supports high‑quality delivery, equitable access and measurable impact across Victoria's prevention system.

About you:

• A tertiary qualification in fields related to public health, health sciences, public policy/administration, health administration, or business management is desirable.
• Experience in public policy, government coordination, or equivalent area is highly desirable.
