Associate Environmental Scientist – Landfill for a specialist environmental consultancy looking to strengthen the technical capability of one of Australia’s busiest landfill and waste teams.

The project managers are there.

The workload is there.

What they’re missing is another senior technical person who enjoys reviewing reports, interpreting complex groundwater and landfill gas data, mentoring consultants and raising the technical standard across the business.

This isn’t a business development role. It’s a technical leadership position for someone who enjoys solving problems more than chasing work.

The Role

You’ll provide senior technical guidance across landfill and waste management projects while supporting the wider project delivery team.

• Prepare and review hydrogeological assessments
• Review and author landfill gas assessments
• Provide technical QA on reports prepared by consultants
• Interpret environmental monitoring data and develop recommendations
• Mentor project managers and developing consultants
• Support complex landfill compliance and licensing projects
• Act as a senior technical resource across the Melbourne landfill practice

The Team

You’ll join a landfill group of 12 specialists with leadership wanting to spend more time on strategy, client relationships and future growth.

Your expertise allows that to happen.

Rather than constantly reviewing every report themselves, you’ll become the experienced technical sounding board the team relies upon, while still remaining hands-on with interesting technical work.

Experience

• Around 8+ years dedicated landfill consulting experience
• Strong technical capability in landfill gas and hydrogeology
• Experienced reviewing technical reports and mentoring others
• Solid project management background
• Environmental Science, Engineering or Hydrogeology qualification
