Senior Cloud Security Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join an established cyber security team and help build, automate and mature its security capability.

This is roughly 50% hands-on Security Engineering and 50% cyber uplift . You’ll work across SIEM/XDR, detection, cloud security and incident response, while using Python, DevOps practices and automation to make security processes more scalable and effective.

There’s also a strong focus on exploring how AI can be practically applied across security operations and engineering .
What you’ll do

• Engineer and continuously improve SIEM, XDR and security monitoring capabilities
• Build, test and tune high-quality security detections
• Support complex incident response, investigations and threat hunting
• Improve security visibility and telemetry across AWS and Azure
• Develop Python tooling and automation to eliminate repetitive security processes
• Apply detection-as-code , Git, CI/CD and DevOps practices to security engineering
• Work across vulnerability management, remediation and wider security uplift initiatives
• Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve security operations
• Partner with cloud, infrastructure and engineering teams to improve security controls and visibility
• Help mature security processes rather than simply maintaining existing tooling

What you’ll bring

• Strong experience across Security Engineering, Detection Engineering or senior Security Operations
• Hands-on experience with SIEM and XDR technologies
• Strong understanding of detection engineering, security monitoring and incident response
• Python scripting and automation experience
• Experience securing AWS and/or Azure environments
• Understanding of CI/CD, Git and modern DevOps/DevSecOps practices
• Experience with threat hunting, MITRE ATT&CK and attacker behaviours
• An engineering mindset with the ability to identify problems and build scalable solutions
• Experience with SOAR, security data pipelines or automated remediation would be highly regarded
• Exposure to AI within cyber security or automation would be advantageous
