Project Manager – Data Centre / Application Migration

Melbourne | Hybrid | 12-Month Contract| Banking experience is mandatory

QIX Consulting is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex Data Centre and Application Migration initiatives within a large enterprise environment.

This role will take ownership of migration delivery from discovery and planning through readiness, migration execution, cutover and post-migration validation . You will work across application, infrastructure, network, security, business and vendor teams to ensure migrations are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Governance

• Develop and maintain detailed migration plans, schedules and dependency maps for application and infrastructure moves
• Define migration waves, cutover strategies, rollback procedures and Go/No-Go criteria
• Establish and maintain project governance, reporting, RAID logs and change-control processes
• Ensure migration activities align with organisational standards, security requirements and compliance obligations
• Manage dependencies across applications, environments, infrastructure and shared services

Delivery & Execution

• Lead application and infrastructure migration activities from discovery through to cutover
• Conduct and coordinate readiness assessments across applications and supporting infrastructure
• Manage testing, migration rehearsals, cutover activities and post-migration validation
• Coordinate across infrastructure, applications, networks, security, vendors and business teams
• Manage complex interdependencies between applications and technology environments
• Track progress against key milestones and proactively resolve risks, issues and delivery blockers
• Develop and maintain detailed cutover and migration runbooks
• Coordinate rollback and contingency planning for business-critical migrations
• Support post-migration stabilisation and transition into BAU

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, business owners and technical leads
• Work closely with application owners to understand migration requirements, dependencies and risks
• Manage third-party vendors and service providers involved in migration activities
• Facilitate migration planning, readiness and governance meetings
• Communicate timelines, risks, dependencies, impacts and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Financial & Commercial Management

• Manage project budgets, forecasts and cost controls
• Monitor expenditure against agreed budgets
• Support contract management and vendor commercial discussions where required

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering Data Centre migrations and/or large-scale Application Migration programs
• Strong end-to-end migration experience from discovery and planning through readiness, testing, cutover and validation
• Demonstrated experience developing detailed migration plans, schedules and dependency maps
• Strong planning capability with hands-on experience using MS Project or similar tools
• Experience defining and managing migration waves
• Strong understanding of application architecture, infrastructure, networks and hosting environments
• Experience managing complex application and infrastructure dependencies
• Demonstrated experience delivering business-critical cutovers
• Experience developing cutover, rollback and contingency plans
• Strong RAID, risk, issue and change-management capability
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strong vendor and third-party management experience
• Ability to coordinate multiple technical workstreams simultaneously

Desirable

• Previous experience delivering large-scale Data Centre exits, consolidations or relocations
• Experience within banking, financial services or other regulated enterprise environments
• Exposure to cloud, hybrid or co-location migration programs
• Experience working across complex enterprise application portfolios
• Familiarity with ITIL, PRINCE2, PMP or Agile delivery frameworks
