Financial Accountant

Based in Ballarat, our client is a growing organsiation and a market leader in their industry. Seeking an Accountant for 3 - 6 months (potential for permanancy) to start ASAP.

Reporting into the Head of Fianance, responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Managing the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations
• Produce timely and accurate financial statements for the board pack and associated departments reports
• Property and lease accounting activities in line with AASB16
• Oversight of fixed asset accounting, including capitalisation, disposals and maintaining the fixed asset register
• Reviewing work of junior staff and providing technical guidance where needed
• Review & oversight of GRNI & PPV accounts.
• Review the monthly Balance sheet, account, and sub-ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances as required
• Assist in year-end close
• Assist with rolling cashflow forecast
• Monitor project budgets v actual costs to variances and investigate cost drivers.
• Assisting with cost review and business partnering for operational departments
• Calculate monthly BAS lodgements
• Exposure to fuel tax credits would be advantageous
• Assist with providing accurate and timely information to support the annual and special purpose audits, in line with audit plans and schedules

The successful candidate will have:

• Working towards CA or CPA
• 5 - 7 Years experience in accounting
• Strong understanding of accounting standards and principles (working knowledge of AASB16 and advantage
• Experience in Pronto is advantageous
• Advanced Excel skills including lookups and Pivot tables
