Senior Youth Access Worker

About headspace:
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers core areas including mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services. Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is the lead agency for headspace Bairnsdale, which is governed by a consortium of local community organisations who provide expertise, support and advice to RAV.

About the role
Reporting to the Centre Manager, the Senior Youth Access Worker is responsible for providing high-quality intake, assessment, risk assessment, and care coordination services for young people accessing the headspace centre. This involves building positive relationships with young people and their families, supporting complex clinical risk assessments and referrals, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and community partners, providing clinical support and secondary consultation to staff, and acting as Clinical Lead when required to ensure safe, evidence-based, and outcomes-focused service delivery.

This role is located at Bairnsdale and is full-time permanent , working five (5) days per week . The base salary range is $110,817 - $113,941 per annum . 

About you

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant mental health discipline with current AHPRA registration or AASW membership, and demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision and facilitating clinical reviews.
• Proven experience working with young people and their families, delivering culturally safe intake, screening, risk assessments, brief therapeutic interventions, and coordinated care within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong knowledge of the Australian mental health system, evidence-based clinical practice, and the ability to assess and respond to complex risks, including suicide and violence, through effective safety planning.
• A current Victorian driver's licence and access to a vehicle.
