Role Black Elk Espresso is seeking an experienced and motivated Venue Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue. The position involves managing daily business operations, supervising staff, monitoring financial performance, maintaining exceptional customer service standards, and ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of the café. The Venue Manager will oversee staffing, budgeting, stock control, supplier relationships and venue operations while ensuring compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, and licensing requirements. Applicants must possess strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, together with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Responsibilities and Duties Oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue to ensure efficient service and a high standard of customer satisfaction. Manage, recruit, train, supervise and mentor front and back-of-house staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and performance standards. Prepare and manage staff rosters, monitor labour costs and allocate duties to maximise operational efficiency. Monitor venue performance, sales, operating costs and budgets, and implement strategies to improve profitability and business performance. Manage stock ordering, inventory levels and supplier relationships to ensure the timely supply of goods and minimise wastage. Ensure exceptional customer service by responding to customer enquiries, resolving complaints and maintaining positive customer relationships. Develop, implement and monitor operational policies and procedures to maintain consistent service standards. Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, workplace health and safety requirements, licensing obligations and company policies. Monitor the presentation, cleanliness and maintenance of the venue to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for customers and staff. Liaise with senior management regarding business performance, staffing requirements, promotional activities and operational improvements. Analyse financial and operational reports and implement initiatives to improve efficiency, productivity and customer experience. Coordinate special events, promotions and marketing initiatives to increase customer engagement and venue performance. Skills and Qualifications AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (OSCA Skill Level 2). At least 3 years of relevant work experience. Demonstrated experience managing a café, restaurant or hospitality venue. Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills. Ability to manage staff, coordinate daily operations and maintain high customer service standards in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Sound understanding of budgeting, stock control, food safety, workplace health and safety, and hospitality compliance requirements. Hardworking, positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and public holidays as required.
