Plastix Australia - We are seeking a skilled and reliable Electrical Technician to join our Kingsgrove-based workshop. Plastix has been Sydney's acrylic and plastic sheet specialist since 1985, supplying and fabricating materials for retail fit-outs, set and stage builders, architects, designers and event crews across the country.
As Electrical Technician, you will assist in the research, design, manufacture, assembly, construction, operation and maintenance of the electrical equipment, facilities and systems that keep our in-house cutting, machining and fabrication operations running smoothly.

As Electrical Technician, you will assist in the research, design, manufacture, assembly, construction, operation and maintenance of the electrical equipment, facilities and systems that keep our in-house cutting, machining and fabrication operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Drafting and Design Support:
- Prepare drawings, plans and diagrams of electrical installations and circuitry.
- Assist engineers and engineering technologists in the design and layout of electrical installations and circuitry for substations, switchgear, cabling systems and motor control systems.
- Collect data, perform tests and complex calculations, and graph results.
- Prepare charts and tabulations to support design and maintenance decisions.
- Estimate materials costs and quantities for electrical works.
- Inspect designs and finished products for compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Assemble, install, test, calibrate, modify and repair electrical equipment and installations to conform with regulations and safety requirements.
- Undertake electrical workshop functions such as installing assemblies for protection relays, metering and indicating devices.
- Assist with research and experimentation programs to support ongoing workshop improvements.
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
- Relevant registration or licensing may be required.
- Sound understanding of electrical installations, circuitry, switchgear, cabling systems and motor control systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex calculations and interpret technical data.
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a hands-on workshop team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a practical, can-do attitude.
