Our client operates within the Northern Territory's power generation industry, supporting the delivery of reliable electricity across the region. An opportunity is available for a qualified mechanical tradesperson to join the team at Channel Island Power Station.

Your new role

As a Mechanical Operator/Maintainer, you will support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of power generation assets. Working within a multidisciplinary team, your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting routine plant inspections and operational testing
• Completing equipment lubrication and minor isolations
• Identifying, investigating and rectifying plant defects
• Preparing accurate defect reports
• Undertaking routine and shutdown maintenance
• Supporting operational and technical commissioning activities
• Working within site Permit to Work systems
• Liaising with contractors and ensuring permit requirements are followed
• Assisting with the training and mentoring of apprentices
• Participating in a seven-day work roster and on-call requirements

What you'll need to succeed

• Relevant AQF Certificate III mechanical trade qualification
• Experience identifying and rectifying mechanical plant defects
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Experience working within a Permit to Work system
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Well-developed computer literacy
• Current NT driver's licence, or the ability to obtain one
• Availability to participate in a seven-day roster and on-call arrangements

Previous experience in power generation, large-scale plant or another heavy industrial environment will be highly regarded.
