Senior Analytics Engineer, Data and Analytics / Analytic Services

About the role:

The Senior Analytics Engineer will work within a collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment within the Analytics Services unit, collaborating closely with Data Services and the Enterprise Technology branch, to design, develop and maintain data pipelines that underpin performance reporting and analytics. The role also delivers curated datasets and information products that enable operational divisions to manage their own business intelligence and reporting needs, ensuring alignment between technical architecture and strategic business objectives.

An ability to design and maintain a working reporting environment and understand its strategic and business context is required. Knowledge of the health sector, health administrative datasets, and health data governance will be highly regarded. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, with knowledge of the health sector and administrative health datasets highly regarded.

About you:

  • Innovative thinking and analysis influences development of data pipelines and products.

  • Negotiates with stakeholders and peers with the object of gaining co‑operation and meeting timelines for delivery of project, service or advice.

  • Develops briefs on highly complex issues that provide options for discussion and consideration and will contribute to the development of a set of final options for decision.

  • Provides leadership and guidance to other specialists in the field.
  • Draft and develop material including the preparation of Cabinet and Cabinet related material, Ministerial and Secretary briefings and meeting papers, agendas, minutes and reports.

Qualification/Specialist Expertise

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent extensive industry experience) is essential. 
  • A strong understanding of health administrative datasets, information governance, and experience working in government is highly desirable.
