Your new company

Hays is proud to be partnering with a respected local government organisation to recruit an experienced People & Culture Leader. This is a unique opportunity to lead the people function within a community-focused organisation, driving workforce strategy, shaping organisational culture and partnering with leaders to build a high-performing and engaged workforce.

Your new role

This organisation is committed to delivering meaningful outcomes for its community and recognises that its people are at the heart of its success. As the People & Culture Leader, you will provide expert advice across the full employee life cycle while leading initiatives that strengthen capability, engagement and organisational performance. Reporting to the Executive team, you will lead the People & Culture function and provide strategic and operational support across a broad range of human resources activities. This role offers the opportunity to influence organisational direction while remaining hands-on in delivering people-focused outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced HR leader with a strong generalist background and a genuine passion for developing people and culture. You will possess a sound understanding of employment legislation, contemporary HR practices and organisational development principles. Previous experience within local government or the public sector will be highly regarded, however candidates from other sectors who can demonstrate strong leadership and strategic HR capability are encouraged to apply.

What you'll get in return

This is an opportunity to join an organisation that genuinely values its people and the contribution they make to the local community. You'll enjoy a varied and rewarding leadership role, the chance to influence meaningful change, and the lifestyle benefits that come with living and working in one of Tasmania's unique and scenic regions.

In return, you'll receive a competitive salary package, flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on both organisational culture and community outcomes.
