FARM MANAGER SHEEP / HEAD STATION HAND – SHEEP & GRAZING

Kangaroo Island, South Australia

An established, professionally managed agricultural business is seeking a capable livestock operator to support the day-to-day running of a large-scale sheep and mixed enterprise on Kangaroo Island.

This role is flexible in level — suited to either a strong Overseer/Head Farm Hand or an experienced operator ready to step up. The focus is on practical livestock capability, reliability and the ability to contribute to a well-run operation.


THE OPERATION

  • Large-scale sheep enterprise (Merino ewe base transitioning through a rebuild phase)
  • First cross lamb production
  • Trade cattle program aligned to seasonal conditions
  • Part of a 3-farm aggregation with shared resources and planning
THE ROLE

  • Hands-on involvement across daily livestock operations
  • Stock work including mustering, yard work, animal health and feeding
  • Assist with grazing and pasture management programs
  • Operate machinery and maintain infrastructure (fencing, water, yards)
  • Work closely with the Farm Manager and broader team
  • Support contractors during peak periods (shearing, marking, etc.)
  • Step up into higher responsibility where capability allows
ABOUT YOU

  • Solid experience in sheep and grazing systems
  • Confident stock handler with working dogs
  • Practical, reliable and hands-on
  • Able to operate machinery and handle general farm maintenance
  • Good attitude and ability to work within a team structure
  • Looking for a role with stability and progression
