Senior Actuarial Analyst - Federal Government

Your new role
As a Senior Actuarial Analyst, you will operate with a high degree of independence, leading complex actuarial and analytical work while providing leadership across a multi-disciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and delivering actuarial, statistical and mathematical models to address complex business issues
  • Providing actuarial monitoring, cost analysis, data tabulations and cost-benefit analysis to support strategic outcomes
  • Leading reporting, data management, and performance monitoring activities across the function
  • Delivering high-quality policy advice and operational insights to inform decision-making
  • Managing and mentoring team members and contractors, including planning, performance and resource allocation
  • Undertaking sensitive and complex analytical projects involving multiple methodologies and datasets
  • Presenting insights and outcomes through clear written reports and verbal briefings tailored to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Building and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships, including representing the organisation in key forums

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • Proven experience designing actuarial and statistical models within complex environments
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience interpreting large datasets and identifying key trends and insights
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical findings into actionable recommendations
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and influencing senior decision-makers
  • Leadership experience, including managing or mentoring team members
  • The ability to operate independently and deliver outcomes in ambiguous and evolving environments
  • Tertiary qualifications in actuarial studies, mathematics, statistics or a related discipline
