Database Administrator (Oracle / SQL Server) - AO6
12 Month Contract
North Brisbane - 50/50 WFH
We’re looking for an experienced Database Administrator to support a mix of on-prem and cloud-based environments within a large, complex organisation based in North Brisbane. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple database platforms, supporting critical systems, and being part of a high-performing infrastructure team.
About the role
You’ll be responsible for the ongoing administration, support and optimisation of enterprise database environments across both production and non-production systems. This includes working across Oracle, SQL Server and cloud-hosted databases, ensuring performance, stability and security. You’ll also play a key role in troubleshooting issues, supporting upgrades and enhancements, and contributing to continuous improvement across the database services function.
Key responsibilities
- Administer, monitor and support Oracle, SQL Server and cloud-based databases
- Perform installs, upgrades, patching, backups and recovery activities
- Investigate and resolve performance, availability and security issues
- Support high availability and disaster recovery solutions
- Work across Linux and Windows environments
- Contribute to automation and scripting activities
- Provide Level 3 support and act as an escalation point where required
- Collaborate with internal teams on database design, optimisation and best practice
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation
About you
You’re an experienced DBA with strong operational support experience and the ability to work across complex environments. You’re comfortable troubleshooting issues, managing competing priorities, and working both independently and as part of a team.
You’ll bring
- Experience as a Database Administrator across Oracle and/or SQL Server
- Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure or Oracle Cloud)
- Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, high availability and performance tuning
- Experience working with Linux and/or Windows environments
- Scripting experience (PL/SQL, T-SQL or similar)
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills
