Accounts Payable Team Leader

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a values-driven organisation to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Lead to take ownership of the AP function and lead a small, established team.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being close to the detail while also improving processes and supporting their AP team.

The Opportunity

• Lead and support a team of 4 Accounts Payable Officers
• Oversee day-to-day AP operations, including invoice processing and payment runs
• Ensure AP processes are accurate, timely and compliant with internal controls
• Coordinate payment schedules with Treasury and broader Finance
• Oversee supplier reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, budget holders and suppliers
• Identify and implement improvements across AP processes, systems and workflows
• Provide guidance, supervision and development to the AP team

About You

We're looking for an experienced AP professional who has stepped into a supervisory or team leadership capacity and is ready to take ownership of a broader AP function.

You'll bring:

• Strong end-to-end Accounts Payable experience
• Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring an AP team
• A sound understanding of reconciliations, payment workflows and internal controls
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence working with financial systems and digital approval workflows
• Strong Excel skills
• A proactive approach to process improvement
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 would be advantageous, as would experience within not-for-profit or another values-led environment.
