Exciting opportunity for an experienced records officer

About the organisation

An opportunity has become available for an APS5 Records Management Officer to join a high performing information management team within a Federal Government department.

This role will see you support the management of both physical and electronic records, ensuring information assets are maintained in accordance with legislative, policy and operational requirements. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will provide records management advice and support to stakeholders across Australia and overseas while contributing to the ongoing improvement of information management practices.

About the role
This role supports the delivery information and records management services across the department. Working under general direction, the position applies legislation, policy, and established procedures to assist in managing the Department's records.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the administration of physical and electronic records throughout their lifecycle
  • Coordinating records transfers, digitisation projects, file sentencing and secure destruction activities
  • Assisting with records management training and user support
  • Responding to record searches and compliance related requests
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including the National Archives of Australia
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within information and records management functions

About you

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Experience in records, information or document management within a government or corporate environment
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and legislation
  • A collaborative approach and strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and within a team environment
