About the Position:

This full-time Cook role is vital to the smooth and successful operation of the restaurant, with responsibility for preparing and cooking a variety of menu items to the highest standards of quality, taste, presentation, and food safety. The Cook will work as part of a close-knit kitchen team, contributing to efficient service delivery and helping maintain the business’s reputation for excellence in every dish served.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Examine ingredients to ensure their quality and suitability before preparation.
  2. Regulate the temperature of ovens, grills, fryers and other cooking equipment.
  3. Prepare and cook meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, rice, pasta, sauces and other menu items.
  4. Season food during preparation and cooking to achieve the required taste and presentation.
  5. Portion food, arrange dishes and add sauces, garnishes and other finishing elements.
  6. Prepare food to meet customers’ dietary requirements, allergies and special requests.
  7. Follow established recipes, portion-control standards and presentation guidelines.
  8. Monitor food supplies and advise management when ingredients or kitchen items need to be ordered.
  9. Receive and inspect food deliveries and ensure products are properly stored and rotated.
  10. Maintain appropriate stock levels and minimise food spoilage and wastage.
  11. Assist with planning menus and developing new dishes when required.
  12. Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, marinating and measuring.
  13. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across cooking stations, equipment and food-storage areas.
  14. Follow food-safety procedures, including temperature control, date labelling and prevention of cross-contamination.
  15. Train and provide guidance to kitchen assistants and junior kitchen employees where required.
  16. Work closely with chefs, kitchen staff and front-of-house employees to ensure orders are prepared accurately and on time.
  17. Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and report hazards, equipment faults or incidents.
  18. Perform other reasonable kitchen-related duties as directed by the Head Chef or Restaurant Manager.

Requirements:

  1. Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
  2. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
  3. Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  4. Strong technical skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and maintaining kitchen hygiene and food safety standards.
  5. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  6. Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
  7. A positive, reliable attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality customer-focused service.
