Your new role

As a Senior UX Designer, you will lead the design and enhancement of a large-scale public-facing website, ensuring users can easily navigate services and determine their eligibility.

This is a part-time contract role (3 days per week), starting ASAP through to 31 July 2026, with the potential for extension.

Working closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, communications and subject matter experts, you will:

  • Lead UX design initiatives to improve website usability and accessibility
  • Conduct research and translate insights into actionable design recommendations
  • Redesign and optimise information architecture to prioritise user needs
  • Collaborate with technical teams to deliver new user-focused features
  • Advocate for best practice UX design across stakeholders
  • Guide content and copy teams on UX principles and accessibility standards
  • Ensure all digital products meet WCAG accessibility requirements

This is a hands-on role requiring both strategic thinking and practical design execution.

What you'll need to succeed

  • To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Strong experience in website UX design, ideally within complex or regulated environments
  • Proven ability to translate user research into improved digital experiences
  • Experience working on information architecture and content-heavy platforms
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams
  • Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities
