Summary:

The Triage Support Officer at the Karnany Engagement Hub is often the first friendly connection people make when they walk through the door, setting the tone for a vibrant, welcoming, and culturally grounded space in the heart of Midland. This role is all about action, coordination, and momentum, working out what’s needed, guiding people to the right pathways, and keeping the front door of the service running smoothly. High-energy, responsive, and full of purpose, it sits right at the centre of a busy engagement hub where things move, connections are made, and the team genuinely enjoys being part of the buzz.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome clients and complete initial screening to identify needs, prioritise urgency, and ensure timely support or escalation.
  • Triage referrals and respond to requests in a trauma-informed, client-centred and timely manner.
  • Coordinate warm referrals to housing, legal, financial, health, mental health, AOD and other support services.
  • Provide information and guidance to connect clients with appropriate services and supports.
  • Work with internal and external agencies to support coordinated service delivery.
  • Support access to emergency relief in line with organisational guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate client records, data entry, and reporting requirements.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the Engagement Hub.
  • Contribute to a safe, ethical and culturally respectful workplace.
  • Participate in training, supervision, meetings, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Undertake other duties as required within the scope of the role

Qualifications:

  • Progressing towards a relevant qualification in Community Services or related discipline (Certificate III), and/or have diverse lived experience or cultural expertise and are looking to engage in formal study
  • Understanding of the principles of Trauma Informed Care
  • Experience in administrative duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
