The Opportunity

The Portfolio Technical Lead- Geotechnical will lead technical engineering function across underground and open pit geotechnical teams. Drive strategic technical direction, governance, and mentoring to ensure delivery of leading practice designs, compliance with geotechnical standards, and effective risk management across all operational and project sites. Champion innovation, continuous improvement as you shape the future of geotechnical engineering at MinRes.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee the development and implementation of geotechnical standards, guidelines, and governance processes across all sites.
• Provide high-level review and approval of geotechnical designs for open pit and underground operations.
• Ensure compliance with Ground Control Management Plans (GCMP) and geotechnical risk management protocols.
• Review geotechnical hazard control strategies and monitor operational risk mitigation performance.
• Lead technical audits of mine sites and projects ensuring alignment with industry leading practice.
• Introduce new methods, technologies, and systems to improve geotechnical analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
• Oversee the design and implementation of corporate geotechnical systems, and knowledge repositories.
• Support business growth plans through technical assessments and integration of geotechnical engineering into new projects.
• Engage with external specialist consultants where necessary, ensuring deliverables enhance operational performance and safety.

What is required?

• Tertiary qualification in Civil, Geological Engineering, Engineering Geology or or related technical discipline.
• Extensive experience in a similar leadership role in mining Geotechnical Engineering, including leading multi-disciplinary geotechnical teams.
• Proven track record in both open pit and underground geotechnical engineering.
• Strong governance and technical assurance experience.
• Expert capability in geotechnical design, hazard management, and monitoring systems.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, fostering excellence and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
