JB Civil Concreting - a Bathurst-based civil concreting business supporting construction work across the Central West region of New South Wales.


As a Metal Fabricator at JB Civil Concreting, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, welding and finishing metal components used to support civil and concreting operations. This position requires strong technical fabrication skills, accuracy and a practical commitment to workplace safety.



Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication sketches and specifications to determine material, measurement and fabrication requirements for metal components used in civil and concreting works.
• Select, measure, mark out and prepare structural steel and other metal stock in accordance with job specifications and required dimensions.
• Cut, drill, shape and bend metal sections using hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment and fabrication machinery.
• Align, position and assemble fabricated components using measuring instruments, clamps and appropriate workshop techniques to achieve accurate fit and dimensions.
• Join metal sections and components using suitable welding techniques, bolting and riveting in accordance with fabrication requirements.
• Inspect welds and completed assemblies for dimensional accuracy, penetration, finish and overall quality, and carry out repairs or rework where required.
• Clean, grind and finish welded and fabricated surfaces, preparing completed components for installation or use on civil and concreting projects.
• Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on welding and fabrication equipment, tools and work areas to support reliable and safe operations.
• Work closely with workshop and site personnel to meet project schedules, safely handle materials and comply with workplace health and safety procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Relevant qualification.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Metal Fabricator
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and fabrication measurements.
• Practical proficiency in metal cutting, shaping, assembly and welding techniques.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to inspect work for accuracy and quality.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, teamwork and reliable completion of fabrication tasks.

Salary:
The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $80,000 - $82,000 p.a plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
