This position is based in the Kimberley region.

Position Profile: An opportunity exists for a Community Drug Service Worker to join our WACHS Kimberley team. This position delivers alcohol and other drug (AOD) services through clinical intervention, community engagement, education, and prevention programs. The role provides assessment, treatment planning, case management, counselling, referral, and coordinated care for individuals and families affected by substance use issues, while working closely with multidisciplinary teams and community stakeholders. It also contributes to prevention and diversion initiatives, delivers training and education programs, supports culturally appropriate services for Aboriginal communities, maintains clinical records and reporting requirements, and assists in strengthening community capacity to address alcohol and other drug-related harm.

Area Profile: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometre area. The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services and health centres located across rural and remote Western Australia. Directorate Overview: The Kimberley Mental Health and Drug Service (KMHDS) provides specialist community mental health and alcohol and drug services to the Kimberley and acute in-patient psychiatric care for referred patients in the Kimberley region. The service aims to deliver a comprehensive range of high-quality patient/client recovery focused mental health and alcohol and drug services to both the people in the Kimberley region.
