Projects and Operations Officer (Chancery)

The Archdiocese of Hobart is the expression of the Catholic Church in Tasmania and includes the Catholic Church parishes throughout the state. “Chancery” is the traditional name for those administrative offices of a Catholic diocese which directly support the diocesan bishop. In the Archdiocese of Hobart, the Chancery provides advice and support to the Archbishop of Hobart, Vicar General and Diocesan Curia in the pastoral governance and administration of the archdiocese, its parishes, diocesan entities and agencies.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Projects and Operations Officer to join our Chancery team in New Town. This is a diverse and rewarding role supporting projects, events and initiatives that contribute directly to the mission and operations of the Catholic Church across Tasmania.

About the Role

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, this position offers a unique blend of project coordination, stakeholder engagement, business improvement and operational support. You will work closely with parishes, diocesan agencies, external service providers and community stakeholders to help deliver strategic initiatives and support key organisational functions.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Coordinating projects, organisational initiatives and business improvement activities.
  • Supporting the administration and stakeholder engagement activities of Catholic Cemeteries Tasmania.
  • Building productive relationships with parishes, agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the implementation and ongoing support of diocesan systems and digital platforms.
  • Developing reports, communications, guidance materials and project documentation.
  • Supporting process improvements that enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.

You are a collaborative and solutions-focused professional with strong organisational and communication skills. You enjoy working across a variety of projects, balancing competing priorities and helping others achieve successful outcomes.

To be successful, you will ideally bring :

  • Experience in administration, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, customer service or operations.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within deadlines.
  • Confidence using business systems, databases and digital platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement, professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • An understanding of and commitment to supporting the mission and values of the Catholic Church.

Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Hold or obtain a current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Tasmania).
  • Successfully complete a National Police Criminal History Check.
  • Support the mission and values of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Hobart.
