The Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape and preserve the living history of the school. We're seeking someone who embraces technology and digital innovation, brings creativity and strong project management skills, and can help tell the story of our community in meaningful and engaging ways.
Success in this role requires strategic thinking and sound judgement; someone who can confidently determine what should be preserved, digitised, and celebrated. The goal is to ensure that in 50 years' time, future generations have access to the moments, stories, achievements and artefacts that truly matter.
More than an archivist, you'll be a storyteller, working closely with students, staff, alumni and the wider school community. You'll attend events, uncover hidden treasures, curate significant memorabilia, and help bring the school's heritage to life. With the school's 150-year celebrations on the horizon, this is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in capturing and showcasing a landmark chapter in its history.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and curate the School’s Heritage Collection, including physical and digital archives.
- Support school events, alumni engagement, philanthropy initiatives and teaching programs through archival resources and historical research.
- Coordinate the digitisation, cataloguing and preservation of archival materials in line with best practice.
- Manage electronic records, retrieval processes and archival systems in accordance with retention and compliance requirements.
- Promote archive awareness and engagement across the School community through exhibitions, publications, social media and volunteer coordination.
- Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills and experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in archives, library studies, records management, history, museum studies, education or a related discipline.
- Experience managing archival or heritage collections, including digital archives and digitisation systems.
- Strong knowledge of records management principles, retention schedules and archival best practice, with excellent organisational and cataloguing skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, alumni and volunteers and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Hold or willing to obtain an Employment Working with Children Check.
