Abacus dx is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Product Manager – Infectious Disease to lead the strategy, growth, and market success of our Infectious Disease portfolio across Australia and New Zealand.
We are seeking an infectious disease specialist with IVD pathology or research experience who is ready to apply their expertise in a commercial and strategic product management role.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a product portfolio, work alongside leading global suppliers, and influence the adoption of diagnostic technologies that improve patient outcomes across ANZ
Based in either Brisbane or Melbourne, you will play a key role in driving business growth, identifying new market opportunities and building supplier partnerships across ANZ. This role requires regular monthly travel to support the commercial team, engage with customers, attend industry events, and collaborate with suppliers.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial success and strategic direction of our Infectious Disease portfolio across Australia and New Zealand.
You will work closely with supplier partners, customers, key opinion leaders, and internal stakeholders to drive portfolio growth, execute product strategies, identify new opportunities, and ensure successful product launches and adoption.
This role offers a unique blend of product management, strategic marketing, business development, and scientific engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction and growth of the Infectious Disease portfolio across Australia and New Zealand.
- Develop and implement portfolio growth strategies to drive revenue, market share, and profitability.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies and market opportunities.
- Build compelling business cases and lead new product introduction activities.
- Partner with leading global suppliers to develop joint business plans and growth initiatives.
- Support the commercial team with product expertise, customer engagement, and strategic opportunities.
- Develop product positioning, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies.
- Engage with key opinion leaders and industry stakeholders to strengthen market presence.
- Deliver presentations, workshops, training programs, and product launch activities.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging diagnostic technologies.
- Collaborate across Sales, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Customer Care, and Operations to ensure portfolio success.
About You
You are a commercially minded life sciences professional who enjoys combining scientific expertise with business strategy.
You may currently be working in product management, business development, specialist diagnostics sales, applications, marketing, or a scientific leadership role and are looking to broaden your impact across a growing portfolio.
Essential
- Degree qualification in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Experience within the diagnostics, healthcare, biotechnology, or life sciences industry.
Demonstrated experience or strong technical understanding in infectious disease, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, pathology, public health, or related life science research.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify growth opportunities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and presentation skills.
- Experience delivering training, presentations, or customer-facing activities.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.
Highly Regarded
- Product management, product marketing, or business development experience.
- Experience working with international suppliers.
- Existing networks within pathology, hospital, public health, or reference laboratory markets.
