Contract Financial Controller

The Company

A highly successful and growing Mining Services business based in Perth's Eastern suburbs, is looking to appoint a confident and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join the team initially on a 3 month contract with a view to permanency. 

This is a fantastic newly created opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a collaborative and fast-paced business where you'll be involved in a variety of accounting activities across group entities. The role offers plenty of scope for ownership, process improvement, and team management.

The Role

As the Financial Controller with 5 direct reports, you’ll be responsible for supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting across the group. You’ll manage key month-end processes, maintain intercompany accounts, and ensure the smooth operation of fixed asset accounting and capital tracking. You’ll also play a key part in developing and documenting internal procedures, helping to drive operational efficiency and strong financial governance.

Key Duties Will Include:

  • Lead month-end processes, including project profitability analysis
  • Ensure financial reporting is in line with AASB/IFRS and taxation standards
  • Prepare and publish weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports
  • Use and implement ERP systems for financial operations
  • Maintain controls to ensure data accuracy and fraud prevention
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and operational leaders to support decision-making
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis and executive-level presentations as required
  • Support strategic initiatives and continuous improvement projects
  • Contribute to a high-performance, values-driven team culture


About You:



  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar financial or leadership accounting role
  • Strong knowledge of month-end processes and Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Exposure to external audits and an understanding of group reporting structures
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, wholesale, or mining industries is highly desired.
  • Fully qualified (CA/CPA) is essential.


You’ll Also Need To Be:

  • Hands-on and solutions-focused, with a strong attention to detail
  • Proactive, with the ability to manage your own time and workload effectively
  • An excellent communicator who enjoys working across teams and building relationships
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel and comfortable using financial systems (ERP experience is a bonus)
