The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Project Officer to provide a critical role at Community Operations.
About the Business Unit
Community Operations is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's Community Correctional Services (CCS) across more than 35 locations. It ensures people in custody are safely and securely managed and aims to rehabilitate by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Parole and Court Practice is responsible for providing central end-to-end oversight of the CCS service system and includes the Parole Central Unit, CCS Development Branch, Statewide Community Work and Partnerships team, System Integrity and the Court Assessment and Prosecutions Services (CAPS) Central Unit. CCS review and investigation activities, monitoring and reporting and a suite of operational projects are also functions undertaken within Parole and Court Practice.
About the Role
The Parole Central Unit is responsible for the monitoring, performance and integrity of the overall parole system. It oversees the parole application and assessment process, works to identify and address issues and ensures systematic improvement is made across the operation of the system.
The Senior Project Officer (CVE) will provide high level operational support to both prisons and CCS, in addition to working on a range of activities and liaison with stakeholders relating to people in custody or on court orders in the community who are considered to pose a terrorism or violent extremism risk.
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide quality assurance and central oversight of key identified aspects of the Community Correctional Services' Parole Management framework.
- Resolve complex and sensitive issues and problems with system wide impact involving a number of stakeholders and requiring integrated solutions, including resource, process and system performance issues.
- Provide high-level authoritative advice to the Manager, Parole Central Unit and Director, Parole and Court Practice on complex and sensitive correctional matters pertaining to the parole system.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated understanding and operational knowledge of Community Correctional Services, the Victorian Parole system and key issues impacting Corrections Victoria.
- Sound knowledge of Victorian government administrative processes
