Contaminated Land Project Manager | Environmental Consultancy | Sydney

A leading environmental consultancy is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its contaminated land management team in Sydney.
This is a permanent full-time role for an Environmental Consultant, Environmental Scientist or Environmental Engineer who wants more ownership of projects, stronger client involvement, and the chance to mentor junior consultants while delivering complex contaminated land work.
You will manage projects from proposal through to delivery, including budgets, timelines, client relationships, subcontractors and technical outputs.

The Role
You will join a specialist contaminated land team delivering assessment, remediation, management and validation projects across Australia.
This role suits someone who enjoys consulting, problem solving, managing clients, reviewing technical work and keeping projects moving commercially and professionally.
You will not just be writing reports. You will be taking ownership of project outcomes, supporting strategy, building trusted client relationships and helping guide a growing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage contaminated land and environmental projects from proposal through to delivery.
  • Prepare project budgets, schedules and work plans.
  • Monitor project performance, timelines, costs and scope.
  • Act as the primary contact for clients and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Review and approve technical reports for accuracy, quality and professional standards.
  • Coordinate consultants, graduates, subcontractors, suppliers and project resources.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance and feedback.
  • Ensure project work complies with environmental legislation, safety standards and company requirements.
  • Contribute to practical, high-quality environmental solutions for clients.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Licensed Asbestos Assessor (LAA) is highly regarded, but not essential.
  • Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) is highly regarded, but not essential
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in contaminated land management or environmental consulting.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including scheduling, budgeting and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of contaminated land assessment, remediation and validation.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and communicate clearly.
  • Experience reviewing technical reports and coordinating project resources.Leadership or mentoring experience with consultants, graduates or junior team members.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused and adaptable approach.
  • Australian working rights.
  • Current driver’s licence.
