Senior Cyber Security Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join a high performing Cyber Operations team responsible for monitoring, detecting and responding to cyber threats across a large and complex enterprise environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a security professional who enjoys incident response, threat hunting and security operations, and is looking to contribute to the protection of critical systems and networks.

About the Role

As a Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying, investigating and responding to cyber security incidents while supporting the ongoing improvement of security operations capabilities.

Working within a collaborative team environment, you will analyse security events, investigate potential threats and provide recommendations to strengthen the organisation's security posture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to, investigate and triage cyber security alerts and incidents
  • Analyse security logs and events to identify anomalous or suspicious activity
  • Perform incident response activities, including containment, remediation and recovery support
  • Assist with proactive threat hunting activities
  • Collaborate with threat intelligence teams to operationalise threat intelligence
  • Recommend security improvements based on investigation outcomes and emerging threats
  • Maintain technical documentation, incident records and operational procedures
  • Work closely with team members to share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Cyber Security Analyst or similar cyber security role
  • Hands on experience performing incident response activities
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
  • Excellent written communication skills with experience producing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to a collaborative culture
  • Current NV1 clearance

Desirable

  • Experience administering or working with Microsoft Defender XDR
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud in an enterprise environment
  • Experience using Splunk Enterprise Security
  • Experience working within Security Operations Centre (SOC) environments
  • Threat hunting and cyber threat detection experience

Qualifications & Certifications

Highly regarded qualifications include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Technology or a related discipline
  • Microsoft Security certifications
  • Splunk certifications
  • CISSP
  • GCIH
  • GCIA
  • Other relevant industry recognised cyber security certifications

Working Arrangements

  • Canberra ACT location
  • Full time onsite role, 5 days per week in the office
  • 40 hours per week
  • Remote and interstate working arrangements are not available
  • Initial 12 month contract with 2 x 12 month extension options
  • Expected commencement in August 2026

Security Clearance
