Hays is currently partnering with Murdoch University to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant for a six-month maternity leave contract within their Procurement and Financial Performance division.


This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accounting professional to join a large and collaborative finance function, supporting key financial reporting, asset accounting and audit activities during a critical reporting period.


Your New Role


Reporting to the Financial Accounting team leadership, you will be responsible for delivering a range of financial accounting and reporting activities, including:

• Year-end accounting and financial reporting
• Balance sheet reconciliations and variance investigation
• Fixed asset accounting and reporting
• Lease accounting and asset management activities
• Capital project accounting and asset capitalisation
• Supporting year-end financial reporting requirements
• Assisting with the preparation and coordination of financial audits
• Liaising with internal stakeholders and external auditors
• Providing ad hoc financial accounting support as required

What You'll Need to Succeed


To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• CA or CPA qualification (essential)
• Previous Financial Accountant experience in a medium to large organisation
• Strong understanding of fixed assets, lease accounting and capital projects
• Experience performing complex reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Knowledge of financial reporting and audit processes
• Strong ERP systems experience (Workday exposure beneficial but not essential)
• The ability to work independently and quickly adapt to new environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
