RF Electronics Engineer
ProFound People
An Australian defence company is expanding its engineering team and is now hiring an RF Electronics Engineer to take ownership of RF and microwave circuit design across its product range.
In this role you will own the design, simulation and validation of RF circuits from architecture definition through to production release. You will design and characterise amplifiers, synthesisers, filters and mixers across a broad frequency range, working extensively with CAE and simulation tools to model performance before committing to hardware. Your scope covers interpreting system level requirements and translating them into circuit level specifications, resolving EMC and RFI issues during compliance testing, and working closely with mechanical and production engineering teams to ensure designs transfer smoothly into high volume manufacture. This is a technically broad role suited to someone who enjoys working across the full RF design lifecycle and is comfortable balancing performance, cost and manufacturability within the same design.
This is a full time, Adelaide based role. For interstate candidates, relocation is required. Due to the nature of the work, Australian Citizenship is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop RF and microwave circuits including amplifiers, oscillators, synthesisers and filters across DC to microwave frequencies.
- Use CAE tools to simulate and validate circuit performance prior to prototyping and test.
- Carry RF hardware developments from concept through to volume manufacture, balancing cost, reliability and ease of production.
- Resolve EMC and RFI issues and support compliance testing across relevant standards.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, production and systems engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Support manufacturing transfer activities, including yield improvement and process optimisation.
- Represent RF engineering with internal stakeholders and, where required, external suppliers and customers.
Requirements:
- Degree in electrical, electronic or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Several years of experience in RF or microwave circuit design.
- Demonstrated experience with CAE and simulation tools such as ADS, PSpice or CST.
- Strong understanding of EMC and RFI resolution and compliance testing.
- Proven ability to carry a design through the full lifecycle from concept through to production and manufacturing transfer.
- Strong problem solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable but not essential:
- Exposure to GaN power amplifier design.
- Experience holding or contributing to patents in RF or microwave architecture.
- Background in defence or aerospace engineering environments.
