About the Role
Reporting into the Site Operations team, you'll be responsible for the safe, on-schedule, and high-quality delivery of major and minor plant shutdowns, while managing day-to-day maintenance contractor activities across site.
You'll be the go-to person on the ground — coordinating people, managing contractors, facilitating progress meetings, and ensuring every job is done safely and to standard.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate contractor resources across major and minor plant outages
- Facilitate daily shutdown progress meetings and produce timely reports covering safety, schedule, and cost performance
- Support planning and engineering teams with shutdown schedules and scopes of work
- Champion a strong safety culture across all shutdown and maintenance activities
- Conduct workplace inspections, critical risk verifications, and contractor audits
- Review and authorise JHAs, risk assessments, and contractor safe work systems
- Participate in incident investigations and assist with safety documentation
- Manage the clearance-to-work and permit-to-work processes
- Ensure thorough induction, supervision, and auditing of all contractor personnel
- Provide technical guidance to contractor trades and supervisors
- Promote open communication between operations, maintenance, and contractors
What you will need to succeed
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade Qualification (essential)
- Experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, mining, or fixed plant environments
- Proven shutdown coordination or frontline supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of fixed plant maintenance principles
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and engineering drawings
- Experience with contractor management and permit-to-work systems
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to support shutdown rosters and call-out requirements
