Relationship and Development Specialist

Full-time

Medical Indemnity Protection Society Limited

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Relationship & Development Specialist to join MIPS in Sydney. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in relationship management and business development. You may have gained exposure to insurance, claims, financial services, healthcare or another professional services environment and enjoy connecting with people, building trust and developing long-term relationships.

This is not a traditional hard sales role. While you will contribute to membership growth, your focus will be on understanding member needs, building genuine connections, strengthening engagement and creating long-term value. You’ll be supported by an experienced leadership team and work closely with internal specialists as you build your knowledge, confidence and career in relationship development.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective MIPS members.
  • Meet with healthcare professionals to understand their needs and provide a positive, member-first experience.
  • Support membership growth through meaningful engagement, relationship-building and proactive follow-up.
  • Conduct member visits, meetings and follow-ups to strengthen engagement and long-term relationships.
  • Represent MIPS at professional development events, conferences and networking opportunities, delivering short presentations and engaging with members, stakeholders and industry professionals.
  • Identify opportunities to increase member value and strengthen engagement.
  • Partner with internal teams to deliver a seamless and positive member experience.
  • Maintain accurate records and capture member feedback, market insights and relationship activity through our CRM.

About You

You may have experience in a customer-facing, member-focused or relationship-based role within insurance, claims, financial services, healthcare or professional services. Alternatively, you may be looking to take the next step from a customer service, claims, member services or account support role into a more relationship-focused and field-based career.

You’ll bring:

  • A genuine interest in building and nurturing long-term relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility.
  • A proactive and curious approach, with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Confidence meeting and engaging with a broad range of people.
  • Strong organisation, planning and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with internal teams.
  • Experience using CRM systems or confidence learning new technology.
  • A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout Sydney.

Previous business development or relationship management experience is welcome but not essential. We’re particularly interested in people with strong relationship-building skills, relevant industry exposure and the motivation to grow.

At MIPS, you’ll do meaningful work that helps protect healthcare professionals so they can focus on caring for others. As a not-for-profit organisation, we offer broad exposure across functions, genuine influence, direct access to leaders and the opportunity to shape your own growth from day one.

We believe you are more than just your job title. Our flexible, hybrid approach empowers you to work your way, with flexibility that respects your life, not just your diary. Wellbeing is woven into the rhythm of work, creating an environment where you can own your work, grow your career and feel good while making a real difference.

What We Offer

  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements that support the way you work best.
  • A fully maintained company vehicle to support travel and member engagement.
  • One dedicated wellbeing leave day each year, in addition to your annual leave entitlements.
  • Additional purchased leave to help you create the work-life balance that suits you.
  • Paid volunteer leave so you can give back to your community.
