Sheep Farm Manager - Kangaroo Island

FARM MANAGER – SHEEP / LIVESTOCK
KANGAROO ISLAND, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

A professionally managed agricultural business is seeking a capable Farm Manager to take operational responsibility for a well-developed livestock property on Kangaroo Island.

This is a hands-on management role within a larger integrated farming business — suited to someone who enjoys practical livestock management, leading day-to-day operations, and being part of a structured, commercially focused team.


THE OPERATION

  • Approx. 1,500ha grazing / arable country
  • Merino ewe base operation producing first cross lambs
  • Flock currently rebuilding toward scale
  • Seasonal trade cattle program
  • Approx. 200ha cropping program (canola / barley / grazing crops)
  • Part of a broader 3-farm Kangaroo Island aggregation
  • Shared planning, management support and operational resources across the group
THE ROLE

  • Lead day-to-day sheep and livestock operations
  • Manage breeding, animal health, feeding and grazing programs
  • Oversee cattle operations as required
  • Coordinate contractors including shearing, crutching and seasonal livestock work
  • Lead staff and support labour where required
  • Maintain infrastructure including fencing, water systems and yards
  • Work closely with senior management on planning, performance and operational outcomes
  • Drive standards across livestock performance, presentation and efficiency
YOU WILL BRING

  • Strong practical sheep / livestock background
  • Confidence in stock handling and working dogs
  • Previous farm management, overseer or senior livestock leadership experience
  • Sound grazing and pasture management understanding
  • Practical machinery and maintenance capability
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A hands-on approach with genuine ownership mentality
