Your new role
Reporting into Finance, you will take ownership of end-to-end payroll operations while providing guidance and support to a Payroll Clerk. This role combines payroll processing, compliance, reporting, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring all payroll cycles are completed accurately and on time.
- Validating timesheets, overtime, allowances, leave entitlements, and payroll reconciliations.
- Processing statutory and voluntary deductions, including PAYG, superannuation, salary sacrifice arrangements, garnishees, and child support payments.
- Ensuring compliance with Australian payroll legislation, awards, taxation obligations, and company policies.
- Managing employee payroll records, onboarding, terminations, pay adjustments, and data integrity.
- Preparing payroll journals, reconciliations, statutory reporting, and year-end payroll activities including STP finalisation.
- Acting as a key point of contact for payroll-related enquiries across the business.
- Partnering with Finance, HR, and operational stakeholders to ensure accurate payroll outcomes and award interpretation.
- Supporting payroll system upgrades, testing, implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
- Producing payroll analytics, reporting, budgeting inputs, and forecasting information.
What you'll need to succeed
- MUST have used Attache
- Significant payroll experience within a complex or high-volume environment.
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation requirements, awards, and superannuation obligations.
- Experience participating in payroll system implementations, upgrades, or optimisation projects.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical capability, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across Finance, HR, and operational teams.
