Data Architect and Data Engineer (Snowflake, AWS)

Green Light Australia are looking to engage a Data Architect or Data Engineer with strong Snowflake and AWS experience to join their team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the target-state data architecture for Snowflake on AWS, including data ingestion, storage, transformation, modelling, and consumption layers.
  • Assess and analyse the existing on-premises data landscape, including source systems, data flows, dependencies, interfaces, and workload characteristics to inform migration strategies.
  • Design logical and physical data models across raw, curated, and business consumption layers to support enterprise analytics and reporting requirements.
  • Define and govern data integration patterns for batch, incremental, and near real-time data ingestion into AWS and Snowflake environments.
  • Lead the migration and modernisation of data platforms, pipelines, and workloads from on-premises environments to cloud-based AWS and Snowflake solutions.
  • Establish enterprise data governance standards, including data quality, lineage, metadata management, reconciliation, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and architecture governance throughout solution design, implementation, production readiness, and transition to managed services.
  • Drive performance, scalability, resiliency, and cost optimisation by defining Snowflake and cloud architecture best practices, monitoring standards, and FinOps principles.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders, including AWS, Snowflake, engineering, security, governance, and managed service teams to deliver strategic data solutions

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as Data Architect or Data Engineer for large complex environments ideally finance and banking.
  • Extensive Data Architecture experience with proven expertise designing enterprise-scale cloud data platforms using Snowflake and AWS.
  • Strong hands-on Snowflake architecture knowledge, including databases, schemas, warehouses, Snow pipe, Streams, Tasks, security controls, and performance optimisation.
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing, data lake/lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT processes, and enterprise data integration frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cloud migration and modernisation initiatives, particularly transitioning data platforms from on-premises environments to cloud architectures.
  • Strong data modelling expertise, including dimensional modelling, relational modelling, semantic data layers, and enterprise data product design.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS data services and cloud-native solutions supporting data ingestion, storage, analytics, and integration workloads.
  • Experience implementing data governance capabilities, including data quality, metadata management, lineage, cataloguing, privacy controls, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of security architecture, including IAM/RBAC, encryption, data masking, auditing, and secure data access controls within regulated environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD, DataOps and automated deployment patterns for data solutions
  • Excellent stakeholder management and technical leadership skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.
